The National consultation of the Sauhard Manch (Peace and Justice Knowledge Activist Hub) was held on the 5th and 6th of June 2012 and it formally launched the Manch in the presence of colleagues from ActionAid, civil society organizations, activists and academics.
The consultation was attended by those who had been working with a commitment to foster secular beliefs and fight communalism in the country and it weaved together recommendations and ideas from them, guiding the ‘Manch’ forward.
The speakers and resource persons at the national consultation were: Prof Rakesh Basant, Prof Ghanshyam Shah, Yogesh Dewan, Dr Ram Puniyani, Shabnam Hashmi , Sudhir Patnaik, Dr Asghar Ali Engineer among many more.
The two day consultation was concluded with a commitment from the attendees towards the ‘Sauhard Manch’, in making it successful in achieving the objectives of Peace and Justice for the minority communities in India, combating communal forces and fostering secular values in the country.
